check out "Nightlight"

the Harvard Lampoon's super funny parody of the "Twilight" saga. Here's just a quick opening excerpt:
"About three things I was absolutely certain. First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe. Second, there was a vampire part of him–which I assumed was wildly out of his control–that wanted me dead. And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me. "
Ha! that about says it.

Kidz in the Hall-- "We Gone"

I was a big fan of the first track I heard off their upcoming album Land Of Make Believe, "Flickin" and ever since that dropped like middle of last summer, I kind of fell off on the Kidz and havent heard anything since.
Then I caught this guy floating around the blog-o-sphere and decided to see if the Kidz were still doing great things, and sure enough they are. Kidz in the Hall pushed back Land of Make Believe from October of 2009 to March of 2010 though but they are putting out Professional Leisure Tour FreEP, which just so happens to drop this upcoming Tuesday December 8th. Check it out

"F*K The Majors, We Major" web series
"An online mini series chronicling the perils of an artist trying to maintain his artistic integrity in WACK WORLD!!!!"
At least thats the description underneath the video, which feature New Orleans own Curren$y getting denied from a show he is supposed to perform at. And where did I find this little gem? At the new website CreativeControl.tv which is essentially an online TV station. And who might you ask is behind this, none other than Dame Dash again!! When I found this website a couple days back I was storming around my room throwing things in shock yelling WHAT THE (EXPLETIVE) DASH?!?! WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!?!?!
Why did I do this? Because Dame put together Blakroc, the project I have been raving about for a month or so and then I found out he runs DD172, the spot I talked about in the Cool Kids & Mos Def video post I did a couple days back. Then I traced that video to the creative control website which is another Dame Dash brainchild!
I am just stunned now, in a good way though. I've gone through most of the videos on Creative Control and it seems like Dash genuinely wants to help out the next up and coming generation of hip-hop, something I don't see Jay doing too much of. Give the guy his props, go support the website, go buy the Blakroc CD, and just appreciate that this man is making some seriously interesting moves that could change the hip-hop landscape for the better.

Decided I am just going to start throwing up ridiculously awesome christmas gifts I spot online during the next few weeks before christmas, and what better way to kick it off than with a Snoop Dogg GPS
If this is real and any reader happens to have an extra one, send it my way.

Cool Kids x Mos Def @ DD172
Did some research and DD172 is a new art gallery/music studio in lower manhattan started by guess who, Dame Dash. Where did Dash come from! He fell off the map for a solid two years after trying to do a hip-hop apprentice on BET and now all the sudden he is making mad interesting moves that are just money so far.
Anyways if you know more about this, please don't hesitate to hit me up and educate me on what this thing is all about. All I know is that this video is tight and you guys should check it.

30 Seconds to Mars--"Hurricane" featuring Kanye West

Did Jared Leto just get dumped or something? Is he going through some dark times? Because this sounds pretty much exactly like an 808's & Heartbreaks track. Like this could be a bonus track for all I know. Weird stuff.
Posting this track is kind of tough for me because I will admit, I have never been a fan of 30 seconds to mars. Just never really got into it, never really clicked with me. Regardless, the combo is so intriguing that I have to post it up for you guys/girls to make your own conclusions on it and form your own opinions.
As for me, I will say its not terrible but I don't know if this is getting a spot on my playlist for the daily commute. I will say Kanye basically saves the song though because without him we got 30 seconds to mars doing a great Radiohead impression. I will say the juxtaposition of Leto's screaming, gravelly singing and Kanye's smooth flow is the key to this song, whether you are a fan of either of these artists, that in itself makes the song listenable. On a one to ten scale, I am giving this a solid 6 because I am in a good mood and I think a 5 is maybe too harsh. Download it for yourself though.

Blakroc was recorded in Summer '08???
The video above is the the 11th installment of the webisode series on the whole Blakroc project and how it went down. If you have been watching you know that it for sure took place sometime around the summer because of how nice the weather looks in a couple of the shots and what not. So in this installment they show Raekwon going through his writing process and doing his song and at one point Dame starts pumping Raekwon on exactly who The Black Keys are. And the chef responds with "o yeah you guys do Lollapalooza and ish" to which Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys responds "yeah last week" which means...
They recorded the Blakroc project in August of 2008 and sat on the stuff for a solid year and some change. No leaks till like this past fall. A solid year with no news, no inside scoop, no leaks, nothing. I don't know if it is just me but I am thoroughly impressed and shocked by this news.
The whole convo I talked about starts at around the 4:15 mark in the video above
Anyway go buy the CD on iTunes and support these guys. To learn more go here
